Can my student ask the teacher questions?

Homeschool Pro classes are pre-recorded rather than live, so students do not communicate directly with the instructor during a lesson. There are no scheduled teacher chats, live classroom discussions, or direct student-to-student interactions within the classes.

This format gives families the flexibility to complete lessons at any time, follow their own homeschool schedule, and move through each subject at the pace that works best for the student.

What Can My Student Do If They Are Stuck?

Students have several ways to get additional help with a difficult concept.

Pause and Rewatch the Lesson

Students can pause, rewind, and rewatch each video lesson as many times as needed.

They may find it helpful to:

  • Replay a specific explanation
  • Pause the video to take notes
  • Review an example step by step
  • Watch the full lesson again before a quiz
  • Return to an earlier lesson for additional review

Unlike a live class, the lesson does not continue while the student is still trying to understand something. They can take the time they need before moving forward.

Review the Class Materials

Depending on the class, students may also have access to:

  • Study Guides
  • Worksheets
  • Handouts
  • Practice activities
  • Quizzes
  • Downloadable lesson materials

These resources can provide another explanation of the topic or give the student an opportunity to practice what was taught.

Ask the Built-in Tutor

In supported courses for grades 5 and above, students can use the Homeschool Pro Built-in Tutor to type a question about the lesson.

For example, a student can ask the tutor to:

  • Explain a concept in simpler language
  • Walk through a problem step by step
  • Provide another example
  • Ask practice questions
  • Help review material before a quiz

The Built-in Tutor is designed to support the teacher-led lesson, not replace it. Availability may vary by class.

Can a Parent Send a Question to the Instructor?

Parents can email their Homeschool Advisor when a student needs additional help.

The advisor may be able to:

  • Recommend helpful class materials or other resources
  • Suggest another lesson or course for review
  • Help the family find an appropriate way to practice the concept
  • Try to pass a specific academic question to the instructor

Instructors are also responsible for developing new lessons, preparing curriculum materials, and grading applicable assignments. Because of this, we cannot guarantee that an instructor will respond directly or provide an answer within a particular amount of time.

For the fastest help, students should first rewatch the lesson, review the available materials, and use the Built-in Tutor where available.

Are Instructors Still Involved in the Classes?

Yes. Homeschool Pro classes are taught through pre-recorded lessons created by certified teachers and/or experienced tutors.

Depending on the course, students may also complete written assignments that are reviewed and graded by an instructor. The program provides teacher-led instruction and applicable grading without requiring students to attend a scheduled live classroom.

Do Students Interact With Other Students?

Homeschool Pro classes do not include live student-to-student interaction, classroom chat, or required group discussions.

Students complete their lessons independently and can focus on their work without the social distractions that may come with a live online classroom.

Homeschool Pro students may still participate in optional contests, magazine submissions, and other program activities, but these are separate from the regular class lessons.
