Do We Have to Follow a Traditional School Calendar?

No. Homeschool Pro does not require families to begin or end the school year on specific dates.

You decide:

• When your school year begins
• Which days your student completes lessons
• Whether to homeschool during the summer
• When to schedule vacations and longer breaks
• Whether to follow a traditional or year-round routine
• How many subjects your student works on each day

Students do not need to attend scheduled live classes or wait for a new semester to begin. They can open their classes and continue learning whenever it works for the family.

Does Year-Round Homeschooling Mean School Every Day?

No. Year-round homeschooling does not mean students must complete lessons seven days a week without vacations.

Many year-round homeschool families spread their schoolwork more evenly throughout the year. Instead of taking one long summer break, they may take shorter breaks at different times.

For example, a family might:

• Homeschool four days each week
• Complete lessons during part of the summer
• Take a week off after several weeks of school
• Schedule vacations during less crowded times of year

• Schoolwork two or three days per week

• Worksheets or Independent Study Packets
• Short lessons before outdoor activities
• Educational outings and hands-on projects
• Catching up in only one subject

Can My Student Catch Up or Work Ahead During the Summer?

Yes. Summer can be a useful time to focus on a subject without the pressure of a full course schedule.

Students in kindergarten through 8th grade generally receive access to:

• Their assigned grade level
• One grade level below
• One grade level above

A student can use lower-level classes to review earlier concepts or use the next grade level for additional challenge.

High school students receive access to all available high school classes.

Can My Student Complete Lessons Outside or Away From Home?

Yes. Homeschool Pro can be accessed anywhere the student has a suitable device and a reliable internet connection.

Students may be able to complete lessons:

• On a patio or in the backyard
• At a grandparent’s home
• At a library
• While visiting family
• At a hotel or vacation rental
• While traveling
• Anywhere else with reliable internet access

A laptop, Chromebook, or tablet will usually provide the best experience. A smartphone can work temporarily, but the smaller screen is not ideal for regular lessons, worksheets, quizzes, or detailed course materials.

When traveling, test the internet connection and student login before relying on the program for that day’s lessons.

Can My Student Pause a Lesson for a Summer Activity?

Yes. Students can pause a lesson whenever they need to stop and return later.

They can also:

• Rewind an explanation
• Rewatch the entire lesson
• Take a movement or outdoor break
• Complete a worksheet away from the computer
• Return to the class later that day
• Continue the lesson on another day

There is no live teacher or classroom continuing without them. The lesson remains available when the student is ready to return.

Can We Take the Entire Summer Off?

Yes. Homeschool Pro does not require students to complete lessons during the summer.

Your family may choose to take a complete summer break and return when you are ready. Access to the curriculum requires an active membership.

If you have a recurring subscription and plan to take a temporary break, contact us about pausing the subscription rather than canceling and purchasing again later. Pausing may allow you to preserve your current membership price if plan prices increase.

Lifetime memberships do not have recurring membership fees, so lifetime families can simply stop using the classes temporarily and return whenever they are ready.

Can We Start Homeschool Pro During the Summer?

Yes. Enrollment is available year-round, including during summer.

After purchasing a membership:

1. Complete the Learner Enrollment Form.
2. Allow approximately 2 to 3 business days for student account setup.
3. Watch your inbox and spam folder for the student login information.
4. Have the student sign in and begin classes.

Starting during summer can give a student time to become familiar with the dashboard, lesson format, and homeschool routine before the traditional school year begins.

Can Summer Work Count Toward Attendance or High School Credit?

That depends on your homeschool plan and the requirements applicable under your state’s homeschool laws.

If you want summer lessons to count toward required school days, instructional time, high school credits, or graduation requirements, keep organized records of the student’s work.
