Help CenterParents do not usually need to sit beside their student throughout every Homeschool Pro lesson. The classes are designed to be easy to navigate, with teacher-led, pre-recorded instruction that students can pause, replay, and complete at their own pace.
The amount of help needed will depend on your child’s age, reading ability, comfort with technology, attention span, and learning needs.
What Help Might Younger Students Need?
For younger students, especially those in kindergarten and 1st grade, we recommend completing the first few lessons together.
A parent may initially need to help the student:
- Sign in to the student account
- Find the correct class and lesson
- Read or understand lesson instructions
- Pause and restart the class video
- Download or print a worksheet
- Gather supplies for an activity
- Move from one lesson to the next
As students become familiar with the Student Dashboard and lesson format, many are able to complete more of their work independently.
Tip: Start by sitting with your student, then gradually step back as they become comfortable using the program.
Can Older Students Complete Lessons Independently?
Many older students can complete much of their Homeschool Pro curriculum independently. They can watch lessons, replay explanations, open Study Guides, download class materials, and complete quizzes or assignments on their own.
Where available, the Built-in Tutor can also help students review a concept, ask for a simpler explanation, or practice what they learned.
Parents should still check in regularly to make sure the student is:
- Following the family’s homeschool schedule
- Completing the expected lessons and assignments
- Understanding the material
- Asking for help when needed
- Making appropriate progress
A student may work independently in one subject but need more support in another.
What Is the Parent’s Role?
Homeschool Pro provides the online homeschool curriculum and teacher-led instruction, so parents do not have to create or teach every lesson from scratch.
Parents are still responsible for guiding the overall homeschool experience. This may include setting a schedule, monitoring progress, helping with technology or supplies, maintaining required records, and providing encouragement and accountability.
Many parents can work from home, care for other children, or handle household responsibilities while their student completes lessons nearby. It is still important to remain available for questions and provide age-appropriate supervision.
