How does a student submit an article to the school magazine?

Enrolled students are welcome to submit original writing, artwork, and other creative work for possible publication in The Kids Ledger, the RemoteLearning.School student magazine.

The magazine is published periodically, generally in seasonal editions. Contributing gives Homeschool Pro students a chance to practice their writing and creativity, share their work with a real audience, and take pride in becoming a published student author or artist.

What Can Students Submit?

The Kids Ledger accepts many types of student-created work, including:

• News articles
• Essays
• Poems
• Song lyrics
• Short stories
• One-act plays
• Drawings
• Photography
• Other original creative work

Siblings may also collaborate on one submission.

How to Find the Submission Form

1. Sign in to the Parent Portal.
2. Open your Homeschool Pro membership.
3. Find the Homeschoolers’ Magazine section in the menu on the left.
4. Open the current magazine information.
5. Select the submission link and follow the instructions provided.

Review the current submission information before sending your student’s work, since deadlines and instructions may vary by edition.

What Information Should We Include?

Include the student’s:

• Name
• Age
• General location for the author credit

For example:

Justin Moore, age 10, from Rochester, New York

Please use only a city and state, province, or country. Do not include a home address or other private identifying information.

For a collaborative submission, include the requested author information for each participating sibling.

Tips for Preparing a Submission

Before submitting the work:

1. Make sure it is the student’s original creation.
2. Review spelling and punctuation together.
3. Confirm that the student’s name, age, and location are correct.
4. Check that any uploaded document or image opens properly.
5. Follow any formatting or file instructions shown with the current submission form.

Parents can help with proofreading and submitting the entry, but the student’s own ideas and voice should remain at the heart of the piece.

What Does a Published Student Receive?

When a student’s entry is published in The Kids Ledger, they receive a printable Press ID Card.

Seeing their work in a school magazine can be an exciting milestone for a young writer or artist, and the Press ID gives them a fun way to celebrate the accomplishment.

What If I Do Not See a Submission Link?

If no current submission form appears in the Parent Portal, submissions may not be open for the next edition yet.
