Is Homeschool Pro a Common Core Curriculum?

Homeschool Pro is not built around or limited to Common Core standards.

Our instructors teach each class using the methods they believe will explain the subject clearly and help students understand the material. Some lessons may cover concepts or use approaches that are also found in Common Core-aligned programs when those approaches are effective. Other lessons may use more traditional methods or a different instructional approach.

The goal is to provide a strong, flexible education rather than restrict every class to one set of standards or teaching methods.

What Does “Not Limited to Common Core” Mean?

Common Core is a set of academic standards rather than one specific curriculum. Programs that follow it closely may organize lessons around a particular sequence of grade-level skills and expectations.

Homeschool Pro instructors have greater flexibility. They can:

Choose the teaching method that best fits the topic
Explain a concept in more than one way
Review important skills from an earlier grade
introduce more advanced material when appropriate
Include practical applications, projects, and enrichment
Go beyond what may appear on a grade-level standards checklist

This allows the curriculum to focus on genuine understanding, not simply completing a required list of standards.

Will My Student Encounter Common Core Concepts?

Possibly. Many important academic concepts appear in both Common Core-aligned and non-Common Core curricula.

For example, students still need to develop skills in reading comprehension, writing, mathematics, reasoning, and problem-solving. A lesson may sometimes resemble something taught in a Common Core classroom because the underlying concept is useful and grade-appropriate.

That does not mean the entire Homeschool Pro curriculum follows Common Core or requires every instructor to use a specific Common Core teaching method.

In simple terms: We use an approach when it helps students learn, not merely because it appears in a particular set of standards.

What If I Prefer a Traditional Approach?

Families who do not want a strictly Common Core curriculum can still feel comfortable using Homeschool Pro.

Our instructors are not required to teach every topic through one prescribed method. Lessons may use traditional explanations, visual demonstrations, practical examples, alternative strategies, or a combination of approaches.

Students can also pause and replay the teacher-led lessons, use Study Guides and worksheets, and review classes from an earlier grade when they need another explanation.

What If I Want My Student to Stay Close to Public-School Expectations?

Homeschool Pro still teaches the major academic subjects and grade-appropriate concepts students generally need to progress.

Families transitioning from public or private school may find that many of the skills and topics are familiar, although the order, terminology, pacing, or teaching method may differ.

Homeschool Pro does not guarantee exact one-to-one alignment with every Common Core standard, state standard, school district pacing guide, or public-school textbook. However, students receive broad instruction in core academic subjects, along with electives and enrichment that can extend beyond a typical standards-based program.

Can My Student Work at Different Grade Levels?

Yes. Homeschool Pro allows students to use classes based on their needs rather than limiting every subject to one grade level.

Students in kindergarten through 8th grade generally receive access to:

Their assigned grade level
One grade level below
One grade level above

High school students receive access to all available high school classes.

This means a student can review an earlier math class, continue with grade-level language arts, and explore more advanced science without being restricted to one uniform level.

What If I Need a Specific Standards Comparison?
