Homeschool Pro is a privately operated K-12 homeschool curriculum and support program for families who choose to homeschool independently. Using Homeschool Pro does not enroll your student in the public-school system.
The name RemoteLearning.School refers to learning remotely through online classes. It does not mean that the program is connected to the remote public-school instruction many families experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
How Is Homeschool Pro Different From an Online Public School?
An online public school is still part of the public-school system. The student attends public school from home and may be required to follow the school’s:
- Academic calendar
- Daily or weekly attendance requirements
- Class schedule
- State curriculum standards
- Standardized testing requirements
- Assignment deadlines
- Participation policies
- Graduation requirements
The exact requirements vary by school and state, but families generally have less control over the student’s schedule, curriculum, and pace.
Homeschool Pro is designed for independent homeschooling. Families have much more flexibility over how their students learn.
What Flexibility Do Homeschool Pro Families Have?
With Homeschool Pro, families can:
- Begin homeschooling at any time of year
- Create their own daily and weekly schedule
- Complete lessons at any time
- Use pre-recorded lessons without required live class meetings
- Pause, rewind, and rewatch lessons
- Choose which available classes the student takes
- Use classes at different grade levels
- Take as many or as few classes as needed
- Combine Homeschool Pro with another curriculum
- Take breaks or follow a year-round schedule
- Adjust the pace for each student and subject
Students in kindergarten through 8th grade generally receive access to their assigned grade level, one grade below, and one grade above. High school students receive access to all available high school classes.
Having access to a class does not mean the student must complete it. Parents remain in control of the student’s homeschool plan.
Does My Student Have to Log In at a Certain Time?
No. Homeschool Pro does not require students to attend scheduled daily classes or log in for a public-school-style attendance period.
Lessons are pre-recorded and self-paced. Students can complete them in the morning, afternoon, evening, or whenever works best for the family.
Parents may still need to maintain attendance or instructional records if required by their state, but Homeschool Pro does not take daily attendance.
Is Homeschool Pro Still a Complete Curriculum?
Yes. Homeschool Pro can be used as a complete K-12 online homeschool curriculum.
It includes core academic subjects, electives, extracurricular classes, teacher-led video lessons, worksheets, Study Guides, quizzes, assignments, instructor grading where applicable, course completion certificates, student ID cards, student email accounts, and Homeschool Advisor support.
Families can also use it as a supplement and take only the classes they need.
Who Handles the Homeschool Requirements?
Because your student is being independently homeschooled rather than enrolled in an online public school, the parent is responsible for following the homeschool requirements that apply where the family lives.
Homeschool Pro includes access to a dedicated Homeschool Advisor who can help with:
- Withdrawing a student from public or private school
- Understanding state homeschool requirements
- Preparing notices, forms, or other paperwork
- Choosing appropriate classes
- Attendance and recordkeeping
- High school credits
- Transcripts and graduation planning
- Diploma preparation
- College preparation
The advisor can help explain and prepare the required paperwork, while the parent remains responsible for reviewing, signing, and submitting forms to the appropriate authority.
Is Online Public School the Same as Homeschooling?
No.
A student enrolled in an online public school is generally a public-school student who happens to complete schoolwork from home. The public school still controls the curriculum, requirements, attendance policies, and academic calendar.
A student using Homeschool Pro is independently homeschooled by the family under the homeschool laws of their state. Homeschool Pro provides the curriculum, instruction, records, and support, while the family retains control over the student’s schedule, pace, and educational plan.
In simple terms: Online public school brings the public-school system into the home. Homeschool Pro gives families the tools and support to homeschool independently.
