Help CenterHomeschool Pro is designed primarily for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. This generally means school-aged children from about 5 to 17 years old, although a student’s age does not always line up exactly with their grade.
Students who are younger or older than the typical age range may still be able to use the program when the curriculum is appropriate for their grade level and readiness.
What Is the Usual Starting Age?
Most students begin the kindergarten curriculum at around age 5.
A 4-year-old who is advanced and ready for structured kindergarten-level learning is also welcome to begin. Parents may want to consider whether the child can:
- Follow simple lesson instructions
- Participate in short, structured learning activities
- Watch and respond to a teacher-led video lesson
- Use a computer or tablet with parent assistance
- Stay engaged long enough to complete an age-appropriate activity
A younger student will usually need a parent nearby to help with navigation, instructions, worksheets, and supplies.
Good to know: There is no need to begin early. Starting at age 4 is an option for a child who is ready, not an expectation.
Is Homeschool Pro Appropriate for Children Age 3 or Younger?
We do not recommend Homeschool Pro as a curriculum for children age 3 or younger. The program begins with kindergarten-level classes and is not designed as a preschool or toddler curriculum.
Parents of younger children can contact their Homeschool Advisor for guidance on age-appropriate learning activities and ways to prepare for kindergarten.
Can a Student Older Than 17 Use Homeschool Pro?
Yes. A student who is older than 17 can still use Homeschool Pro if they are completing 12th grade or other high school coursework.
Students do not become ineligible simply because they are older than the typical age for their grade. Some students begin homeschooling later, take additional time to complete high school, or follow a different educational timeline.
What If I Am Unsure Which Grade Level to Choose?
When enrolling your student, choose the grade that most closely reflects their current school placement and educational plans.
Academic readiness can vary by subject, so a student does not always need to work at exactly the same level in every class. Homeschool Pro provides flexible class access, and parents can contact us to request adjustments when needed.
