Why is my student seeing classes from the wrong grade level?

Seeing classes from another grade level does not mean your student was registered incorrectly.

Homeschool Pro gives students access to more than one grade level so they can review earlier concepts, complete their regular grade-level coursework, or explore more advanced material.

For example, a student registered in 7th grade generally receives access to:

  • 6th-grade classes
  • 7th-grade classes
  • 8th-grade classes

The student may notice an 8th-grade class first when browsing the dashboard, but their 6th- and 7th-grade classes are also available.

Which Grade Levels Can My Student Access?

Students in kindergarten through 8th grade generally receive access to:

  • Their assigned grade level
  • One grade level below
  • One grade level above

This flexibility can be helpful when a student:

  • Needs to review an earlier concept
  • Is working at different levels in different subjects
  • Wants more challenging material
  • Is ready to move ahead in a particular subject

Access to another grade level does not mean the student is required to complete those classes.

What About High School Students?

Students in grades 9 through 12 receive access to all available high school classes.

This allows families to choose courses based on the student’s previous coursework, academic readiness, interests, graduation plan, and credit needs rather than limiting access to one numbered grade.

Why Did a Different Grade Appear First?

The student dashboard may display classes from any of the grade levels available to the student. The first class shown does not determine the student’s official grade level.

For example, an 8th-grade class appearing near the top of a 7th-grade student’s dashboard does not mean the account was changed to 8th grade.

The student can scroll through the My Classes page or use the class search field to find a particular grade-level class or subject.

Does My Student Have to Take Every Class Shown?

No. Homeschool Pro provides unlimited access to the available curriculum, but students are not expected to complete every class in their account.

Your family chooses which classes the student will actually take.

Once the student begins a class, it will appear under the In Progress filter. Selecting In Progress allows the student to focus on the classes they are currently taking rather than viewing the full list of available courses.

Can I Request More Grade Levels?

Yes. Parents may contact us to request access to an additional class or grade level.

This may be helpful when a student:

  • Is working more than one grade level ahead
  • Needs to review material from an earlier grade
  • Wants a particular course outside their current access
  • Is following a customized homeschool plan

Include the following information with your request:

  • The student’s full name
  • The student’s @remotelearning.school email address
  • The student’s assigned grade level
  • The class or grade level you would like opened

Parents may also request that unnecessary classes or grade levels be removed to simplify the student dashboard.

What If My Student’s Assigned Grade Is Incorrect?

If the grade level originally entered on the Learner Enrollment Form was incorrect, please contact us to request a correction.

Seeing classes from the grade above or below is normal. However, contact us if:

  • The student cannot find any classes from their assigned grade
  • The student needs their official grade level changed
  • The expected grade-level access appears to be missing
