Older students and graduates can add eligible Homeschool Pro course certificates to LinkedIn directly from the Student Certificate Portal.
Adding a certificate to LinkedIn gives the student a way to present completed coursework as part of their growing professional profile. It can help document academic interests and accomplishments when preparing for college, scholarships, internships, employment, career exploration, or skilled trade opportunities. The LinkedIn entry connects back to the student’s verified certificate, making the achievement part of their digital resume.
Students can choose to:
- Add the certificate permanently to their LinkedIn profile
- Share the achievement as a post in their LinkedIn feed
- Do both
See How One Student Uses a Certificate to Build Toward His Future
Certificates can be more than records of completed coursework. For an older student, they can help demonstrate a genuine interest in a subject and show that the student completed meaningful work connected to a future goal.
In this video, a Homeschool Pro student who hopes to become an aerospace engineer shows his Aerospace Engineering certificate. He added it to LinkedIn so it would become part of his digital resume and give him something concrete to show alongside his interest in aerospace. His family believes the certificate helped strengthen his profile as he prepared for an internship interview.
See how one Homeschool Pro student uses an Aerospace Engineering certificate on LinkedIn while building toward his future career goals.
This is one student’s experience. Adding a certificate to LinkedIn does not guarantee admission, employment, an interview, or an internship, but it can give the student a verified accomplishment to include when presenting their education and interests.
Before You Begin
The student will need:
- An existing LinkedIn account
- Access to their Homeschool Pro Student Certificate Portal
- An eligible course certificate already issued in the portal
- The correct student @remotelearning.school email address for portal access
Sign in to the Student Certificate Portal here:
Open the Student Certificate Portal
Make sure you are signed in to the correct student’s portal before adding a certificate.
For complete portal login instructions, see:
How do I access the Student Certificate Portal?
Step 1: Open the Certificate
After signing in:
- Find the certificate the student wants to add to LinkedIn.
- Select See Details beneath the certificate.
- The individual certificate page will open.
Review the certificate and make sure the following information is correct:
- Student name
- Course title
- Issue date
- Certificate ID
- Issuing organization
If any information is incorrect, contact us before adding the certificate to LinkedIn.
Step 2: Select Add to LinkedIn
On the certificate detail page, select the blue Add to LinkedIn button located beside the certificate preview.

Select Add to LinkedIn beside the certificate preview.
A sharing window will open with options for adding or posting the achievement.
Step 3: Choose How the Certificate Will Be Shared
The LinkedIn window provides two main options:
Add to Profile
Select Add to profile to place the certificate permanently on the student’s LinkedIn profile under licenses and certifications.
This is usually the best option when the student wants the achievement to remain visible as part of their professional and academic background.
Share to Feed
Select Share to feed to create a LinkedIn post announcing the achievement to the student’s network.
A feed post is useful when the student wants to:
- Celebrate completion of the course
- Explain why the subject interests them
- Highlight a major project
- Describe skills developed
- Connect the course to a future academic or career goal
Select Both
The student can select both options.
This allows the certificate to remain on the profile while also creating a post that provides additional context about the achievement.
What Is the Difference Between Adding to the Profile and Sharing to the Feed?
The two choices serve different purposes.
Adding to the Profile
This creates a lasting entry in the student’s LinkedIn profile.
Someone reviewing the profile later can see the certificate alongside the student’s other education, experience, skills, and achievements.
Sharing to the Feed
This creates a social post that appears in the student’s LinkedIn feed.
The post may be seen by people in the student’s network, but it can eventually move down the feed as newer posts are added.
For the strongest presentation, an older student may choose both:
- Add to profile for a lasting credential entry
- Share to feed for an immediate announcement and personal explanation
Step 4: Write a Short LinkedIn Post
If the student selects Share to feed, they can write a short message about the course and what the certificate represents.
The post might mention:
- The course completed
- An important topic studied
- A major assignment or project
- Skills developed
- The course’s academic credit value, when applicable
- How the course connects to the student’s future goals
- What the student hopes to study or pursue next
The Certificate Portal guide recommends adding details such as course credit, major project milestones, or personal takeaways to give colleges or recruiters useful context.
General Example
I’m pleased to share that I completed a Homeschool Pro course through Remote Learning School. This course helped me strengthen my knowledge of the subject and complete several meaningful lessons and projects. I’m looking forward to continuing to build on what I learned.
Aerospace Engineering Example
I’m pleased to share that I completed Aerospace Engineering through Homeschool Pro. The course strengthened my understanding of aircraft design, aerodynamics, simulation, and applied scientific reasoning. Aerospace engineering is a field I hope to pursue further, and I’m excited to continue developing my knowledge and experience.
Project-Focused Example
I recently completed a Homeschool Pro course in World History I. One of my favorite parts was creating a French Revolution board game that required me to apply what I learned about major people, events, and political changes. I’m proud to add this completed course to my profile.
Students should write in their own voice and describe only work they actually completed.
Step 5: Publish the Certificate
After choosing the sharing options and reviewing the post:
- Confirm that Add to profile, Share to feed, or both are selected.
- Review the written message.
- Check spelling and course information.
- Select the blue Share on LinkedIn button.
The certificate will then be added or shared according to the options selected.

Choose whether to add the certificate to the profile, share it to the feed, or do both. Add an optional post, then select Share on LinkedIn.
What Will Appear on the Student’s LinkedIn Profile?
When the certificate is added to the profile, LinkedIn creates an entry connected to the course achievement.
The entry can help show:
- The completed course
- The issuing organization
- The certificate issue date
- The student’s verified credential
- The connection between the coursework and the student’s interests
The certificate link directs viewers back to the online record in the Student Certificate Portal, where the credential can be verified.
Can Someone Verify the Certificate From LinkedIn?
Yes. The LinkedIn certificate entry connects to the student’s online certificate record.
The certificate page includes:
- The student’s name
- The course or credential name
- Remote Learning School as the issuing organization
- The issue date
- A unique Certificate ID
- The certificate’s current status
- The Verify Credential feature
- The attached course syllabus
This allows someone viewing the student’s LinkedIn profile to see more than a typed claim that the student completed a course. They can open the linked certificate and confirm the achievement through the Certificate Portal.

Why Might LinkedIn Be Helpful for a High School Student?
An older student may not yet have extensive employment history, but they may already have meaningful coursework, projects, interests, and accomplishments.
A LinkedIn profile can provide one place to begin organizing:
- Course certificates
- Academic interests
- Projects
- Volunteer experience
- Internships
- Employment
- Skills
- Extracurricular activities
- Career goals
For example, a student interested in engineering might add certificates related to:
- Aerospace Engineering
- Physics
- Robotics
- Computer science
- Mathematics
- Design
A student interested in writing might highlight:
- English courses
- Journalism
- Creative writing
- School magazine publications
- Research projects
The goal is not to make the student appear more experienced than they are. It is to present genuine accomplishments clearly and professionally.
Should Every Certificate Be Added to LinkedIn?
Not necessarily.
Students may prefer to add certificates that are most relevant to:
- Their intended college major
- A future career
- An internship
- A job application
- A scholarship
- A skilled trade
- A major personal interest
For example, a student interested in aerospace engineering may prioritize science, engineering, mathematics, and technology certificates.
Another student may choose to build a broader profile that shows achievements across several subjects.
The student and parent can decide which certificates are most meaningful and useful to include.
Can a Student Add Certificates Later?
Yes. Certificates remain accessible in the Student Certificate Portal and do not expire. Families can return to the portal later and add a certificate when it becomes relevant to the student’s college, internship, employment, or career plans.
There is no requirement to add every certificate immediately after it is issued.
Is LinkedIn Required?
No. LinkedIn is completely optional.
Students who do not use LinkedIn can still:
- Keep certificates privately in the portal
- Download them as images or PDFs
- Print them
- Share direct certificate links
- Share QR codes
- Include certificates in a homeschool portfolio
- Provide certificates and syllabi to evaluators
- Share achievements with relatives
The certificate remains available and verifiable whether or not it is added to LinkedIn.
What Is the Difference Between Adding a LinkedIn Profile Link to the Portal and Adding a Certificate to LinkedIn?
These are two separate features.
LinkedIn Profile Link in the Student Portal
When personalizing the Certificate Portal, an older student may enter the URL of their LinkedIn profile.
This creates a link from the student’s Certificate Portal profile to LinkedIn.
Add to LinkedIn on a Certificate
The Add to LinkedIn button on an individual certificate page sends that specific achievement to LinkedIn.
Use this button when the student wants the course certificate to appear under licenses and certifications or be shared as a feed post.
Simply entering the student’s LinkedIn URL in the profile editor does not automatically add any certificates to LinkedIn.
What Should the Student Review Before Publishing?
Before adding or sharing a certificate, confirm:
- The student’s LinkedIn profile uses their correct name
- The certificate is connected to the correct student
- The course title is accurate
- The written post contains no spelling errors
- The post accurately describes what the student completed
- Any credit value mentioned is correct
- No unnecessary private information is included
- The student is comfortable with the post being visible to their selected LinkedIn audience
Parents may want to review the profile and post with a younger high school student before publishing.
What If the Add to LinkedIn Button Does Not Appear?
First, confirm that:
- You opened the individual certificate detail page.
- You are signed in to the correct student’s Certificate Portal.
- The certificate has been fully issued.
- You are viewing an eligible certificate.
- The page has finished loading.
Then try:
- Refreshing the page
- Signing out and signing back in
- Trying another modern browser
- Trying another device
- Confirming that browser pop-ups are not blocked
If the button still does not appear, contact us and include:
- The student’s full name
- The student’s @remotelearning.school email address
- The certificate name
- The Certificate ID
- A screenshot of the certificate page
- The device and browser being used
What If the LinkedIn Window Does Not Open?
A browser setting or extension may be preventing the sharing window from opening.
Try:
- Allowing pop-up windows for the Certificate Portal.
- Refreshing the certificate page.
- Selecting Add to LinkedIn again.
- Trying another browser.
- Signing in to LinkedIn first, then returning to the certificate page.
- Trying another device.
Do not repeatedly create duplicate LinkedIn entries while troubleshooting. Check the student’s profile before attempting the process again.
Can the Student Remove the Certificate From LinkedIn Later?
The student controls their own LinkedIn profile and can manage or remove entries through LinkedIn.
Removing the certificate from LinkedIn does not delete the original certificate from the Homeschool Pro Student Certificate Portal.
The course certificate remains available for:
- Viewing
- Verification
- Downloading
- Printing
- Sharing again later
The Bottom Line
To add a Homeschool Pro certificate to LinkedIn:
- Sign in to the student’s Certificate Portal.
- Open the individual certificate.
