How do I download and print my student’s certificate?

9 min. readlast update: 08.22.2026

Certificates in the Homeschool Pro Student Certificate Portal can be downloaded as an image or PDF and printed whenever your family is ready.

You can print the certificate at home, take the downloaded file to a local print shop, or use the optional Get a Printed Version service to order a professionally printed and framed copy through an independent third-party provider.

See the Pride a Printed Certificate Can Create

A certificate is useful for records, but it can also give students something real to hold, display, and feel proud of after completing a course.

In this video, a Homeschool Pro student proudly shows his printed certificate. The family also compares the printed certificates with the digital versions on the computer, showing how an online achievement can become a physical keepsake for the wall, portfolio, or family records.

See how one Homeschool Pro family turns digital course certificates into printed keepsakes students can proudly display.

Before You Begin

Sign in to the Student Certificate Portal using the student’s official @remotelearning.school email address:

Open the Student Certificate Portal

Each student has their own portal. Make sure you are signed in to the account of the student whose certificate you want to download.

For complete login instructions, see:

How do I access the Student Certificate Portal?

Step 1: Open the Certificate

After signing in:

  1. Find the certificate you want to download.
  2. Select See Details beneath the certificate.
  3. The individual certificate page will open.

The certificate detail page includes the full certificate preview, course information, verification tools, and download options.

Step 2: Select Download Credential

On the certificate detail page, select the blue Download Credential button.

The menu will expand and show three options:

  • Certificate Image
  • QR
  • Certificate PDF

Select the download icon beside the format you want. The file will be saved to your device.

Select Download Credential, then download the certificate as an image or PDF. A separate certificate QR code is also available.

Which Download Option Should I Choose?

Certificate PDF

The PDF is generally the most convenient option for:

  • Printing a full-page certificate
  • Saving the certificate with homeschool records
  • Sending the certificate to a local print shop
  • Keeping a digital copy that preserves the page layout

Certificate Image

The image version can be useful for:

  • Saving the certificate to a phone or tablet
  • Sharing it digitally
  • Inserting it into a portfolio or document
  • Printing through an application that works better with image files

QR Code

The QR option downloads a scannable code linked to the certificate’s online record.

The QR code is not a replacement for the certificate itself. It can be shared separately so another person can scan it and open the certificate page.

For a physical certificate to display or place in a portfolio, download the Certificate PDF or Certificate Image.

Step 3: Find the Downloaded File

Your device will usually save the file in its Downloads folder.

Depending on the device and browser, the download may also:

  • Appear at the top or bottom of the browser window
  • Open automatically in a new tab
  • Appear in the Files application
  • Ask you where you want to save it

Open the downloaded file and confirm that:

  • The correct student’s certificate was downloaded
  • The student’s name is spelled correctly
  • The complete certificate is visible
  • The course title and other details can be read
  • No part of the certificate is cut off

How Do I Print the Certificate at Home?

After opening the downloaded PDF or image:

  1. Select Print from the application or browser menu.
  2. Choose your printer.
  3. Select color printing if you want to preserve the certificate’s full design.
  4. Choose landscape orientation if it is not selected automatically.
  5. Use Fit to Page, Fit to Printable Area, or a similar setting.
  6. Review the print preview to make sure the certificate is not cut off.
  7. Select Print.

The exact wording of the printing options will depend on your device, browser, printer, and operating system.

Tip: Always check the print preview before printing. If part of the certificate is missing, change the orientation to landscape or select the option that fits the entire page within the printable area.

What Type of Paper Should I Use?

Ordinary printer paper is fine for a certificate kept in a homeschool binder or student portfolio.

For a certificate you plan to display, you may prefer:

  • Heavier presentation paper
  • Cardstock that is compatible with your printer
  • Matte photo paper
  • Premium printer paper

Check your printer instructions before using heavy paper or cardstock.

Printing in color is recommended for the full certificate design, but a black-and-white copy can still be useful for records when color printing is not available.

Can I Print the Certificate at a Local Print Shop?

Yes. Download the certificate as a PDF or image, then take or send the file to a local copy center or print shop.

Depending on the business, you may be able to provide the file by:

  • Email
  • Online upload
  • USB drive
  • A file stored on your phone
  • A cloud storage service

Tell the print shop that you want the complete certificate printed in color and fitted to the page.

You can also ask about:

  • Paper choices
  • Cardstock
  • Borderless printing
  • Lamination
  • Multiple copies
  • Framing options

Prices and available services will vary by business.

Can I Order a Professionally Printed Certificate?

The certificate page may display a Get a Printed Version option.

Selecting this option allows you to order a professionally printed and framed certificate through an independent third-party service for a fee.

[IMAGE 2 PLACEMENT: Insert the certificate detail-page image from the lower section of the Downloading and Printing Certificates PDF, showing Get a Printed Version circled.]

Select Get a Printed Version to view the optional professional printing and framing service.

This service is optional. You can always download and print the certificate yourself instead.

Because the professional printing option is provided by a third party:

  • Its prices may vary
  • Shipping charges may apply
  • Available products may change
  • Delivery times are determined by the provider

Review the complete price and order details before completing the purchase.

Can We Frame the Certificate Ourselves?

Yes. After printing the certificate, you can place it in a frame and display it in the student’s:

  • Bedroom
  • Homeschool area
  • Family room
  • Study space
  • Achievement wall

A framed certificate can be a meaningful way to recognize the work involved in completing a course.

Families may also choose to keep printed certificates in:

  • A homeschool portfolio
  • A student achievement binder
  • A graduation keepsake box
  • A folder organized by school year
  • A recordkeeping file

Can I Print More Than One Copy?

Yes. Once the certificate PDF or image has been downloaded, you can print additional copies whenever needed.

For example, you might keep:

  • One copy in the student’s homeschool portfolio
  • One framed copy for display
  • One copy with the family’s academic records
  • One copy for an evaluator or another organization, when requested

The digital certificate remains available in the portal even after physical copies are printed.

Does Printing the Certificate Remove It From the Portal?

No. Downloading or printing a certificate does not remove or change the digital credential.

The certificate remains in the Student Certificate Portal and can still be:

  • Viewed
  • Downloaded again
  • Shared
  • Verified online
  • Connected to its course syllabus

Certificates do not expire and remain accessible in the portal.

Is the Printed Certificate Still Verifiable?

Yes. Each certificate has a unique Certificate ID and an online certificate page.

Someone can verify the certificate by visiting the Student Certificate Portal and entering the Certificate ID. The certificate detail page also includes a Verify Credential button that confirms the student’s name, issuing organization, issue date, and certificate status.

The digital verification record remains available even when the family uses a printed copy.

For complete verification instructions, see:

How does certificate verification work?

Can I Print Certificates for More Than One Student?

Yes. Each student’s certificates are stored in their individual Certificate Portal.

To print certificates for another child:

  1. Sign out of the current student’s portal.
  2. Sign in using the other student’s official @remotelearning.school email address.
  3. Open the certificate.
  4. Select Download Credential.
  5. Download and print the certificate.

Make sure each file is saved with a name that makes it easy to identify the student and course.

What If the Certificate Does Not Download?

Try the following:

  1. Refresh the certificate page.
  2. Select Download Credential again.
  3. Check your device’s Downloads folder.
  4. Make sure your browser allows file downloads.
  5. Try downloading the PDF instead of the image, or the image instead of the PDF.
  6. Try another browser.
  7. Try another device, if available.

If the file downloads but will not open, make sure your device has an application that can open PDF or image files.

What If the Certificate Is Cut Off When Printed?

If the certificate is cut off:

  1. Open the print preview.
  2. Change the page orientation to landscape.
  3. Select Fit to Page or Shrink to Printable Area.
  4. Reduce the print scale slightly if needed.
  5. Confirm that the complete border is visible in the preview.
  6. Try printing from the PDF version instead of the image version.

Printer margins vary, so a small white border around the certificate may appear on some home printers.

What If the Student’s Name Is Incorrect?

Do not edit the downloaded certificate yourself.

If the student’s name or another certificate detail is incorrect, please contact us and include:

  • The student’s full name
  • The student’s @remotelearning.school email address
  • The course name
  • The Certificate ID
  • A screenshot showing the incorrect information
  • The correct information that should appear

Wait until the certificate has been corrected before printing or sharing it.

Do We Have to Print Certificates?

No. Printing is completely optional.

The digital certificate remains permanently available in the Student Certificate Portal and can be viewed, verified, downloaded, or shared online.

Some families print every certificate. Others print only especially meaningful achievements or keep all certificates digitally.

You can choose what works best for your student and recordkeeping system.

The Bottom Line

To download and print a Homeschool Pro certificate:

  1. Sign in to the student’s Certificate Portal.

  3. Select Download Credential.
  4. Download the Certificate PDF or Certificate Image.
  5. Print it at home or take the file to a local print shop.
