Your advisor can help with the parts of homeschooling that go beyond completing daily lessons, such as understanding state requirements, preparing forms, selecting classes, keeping records, planning high school credits, and preparing for graduation.
Using your Homeschool Advisor is completely optional. You do not have to contact the advisor, receive approval for your homeschool decisions, or use every service they offer.
Some families email their advisor regularly, while others contact them only when a specific question comes up. Some families may not need to contact their advisor at all. The support remains available throughout your membership, and you can email your advisor as much or as little as you find helpful.
Parents remain in control of their homeschool. The advisor’s role is to provide guidance, answer questions, and make the administrative side of homeschooling easier whenever support is needed.
Good to know: Your Homeschool Advisor is always available as a resource, but you are never required to use the service.

What Can My Homeschool Advisor Help With?
Your advisor can assist with many parts of your homeschool journey, from getting started through high school graduation.
Getting Started With Homeschooling
If your family is new to homeschooling, your advisor can help you understand the first steps, including:
- Withdrawing your student from public or private school
- Understanding the homeschool requirements in your state
- Identifying notices, registrations, or other forms that may be required
- Preparing withdrawal letters or notices of intent
- Understanding required subjects
- Planning a workable homeschool schedule
- Setting up attendance and recordkeeping
Requirements vary by state, so your advisor will need to know where your student lives before providing guidance.
Homeschool Forms and State Requirements
Your advisor can help identify and prepare homeschool forms that may apply to your family.
This may include:
- School withdrawal letters
- Notices of intent to homeschool
- State or district registration forms
- Attendance records
- Progress reports
- Required educational plans or narratives
- Portfolio or testing documentation
- Other state-specific homeschool paperwork
In many cases, the advisor can help fill out or prepare the form using information you provide.
Important: RemoteLearning.School does not submit forms to the state, district, school, or another authority for you. The parent or legal guardian must review, sign, and submit all required documents.
Choosing Classes and Grade Levels
Your advisor can help you plan which Homeschool Pro classes may be appropriate for your student.
This can include:
- Choosing core academic classes
- Selecting electives and enrichment subjects
- Determining an appropriate grade level
- Finding classes for additional review
- Finding more advanced classes
- Planning a complete homeschool curriculum
- Using Homeschool Pro alongside another curriculum
- Requesting access to additional classes or grade levels
Homeschool Pro students are not limited to taking every subject at exactly the same grade level. Your advisor can help you build a plan that reflects the student’s strengths, needs, previous education, and future goals.
Attendance and Homeschool Records
Although Homeschool Pro does not take daily attendance, your state may require your family to maintain attendance or instructional records.
Your advisor can help with:
- Attendance spreadsheets or templates
- Course and lesson records
- Progress documentation
- Student portfolios
- Organizing completed work
- Keeping records required by your state
- Preparing documentation for a future school transfer
Keeping organized records is especially important during high school, but it can also be useful for younger students.
High School Credits and Graduation Planning
High school planning is one of the most important areas in which a Homeschool Advisor can help.
Your advisor can assist with:
- Planning a four-year high school course of study
- Reviewing graduation requirements applicable under your state’s homeschool laws
- Determining appropriate credit values
- Tracking completed and remaining credits
- Including eligible coursework from previous schools
- Including coursework from other homeschool curricula
- Identifying missing graduation requirements
- Preparing for graduation
- Preparing the student’s diploma and official transcript
We recommend beginning graduation planning when the student enters high school rather than waiting until 11th or 12th grade.
Transcripts, Diplomas, and College Preparation
Your advisor can help organize the records your student may need after high school.
This includes assistance with:
- Official high school transcripts
- Courses, grades, credits, and GPA
- High school diplomas
- Course descriptions
- College application records
- Scholarship documentation
- Previous school transcripts
- Dual-enrollment coursework
- Other academic records requested by a college or program
A student’s transcript can include eligible coursework from Homeschool Pro, previous schools, and other curriculum providers so the student has one organized academic record.
Questions About a Lesson or Subject
Homeschool Advisors are not the instructors who teach the recorded classes, but they may still be able to help when a student is struggling with a topic.
The advisor may:
- Recommend another lesson or class for review
- Suggest a Study Guide, worksheet, or other resource
- Help locate additional materials
- Try to pass a specific question to the instructor
Instructors are responsible for developing curriculum, recording lessons, and grading applicable assignments, so an instructor response cannot be guaranteed.
Students in supported courses for grades 5 and above may also use the Built-in Tutor to ask questions about the lesson, request a simpler explanation, or practice a concept.
When Is My Homeschool Advisor Assigned?
Your advisor is assigned when your student account is set up.
After purchasing Homeschool Pro, you must complete the Learner Enrollment Form in the Parent Portal. Student accounts are usually created within 2 to 3 business days after the form is submitted.
Once the student account is ready, you will receive an email from help@rls.school containing:
- The student’s login information
- The student’s @remotelearning.school email address
- Your assigned Homeschool Advisor’s name
- Your advisor’s email address
If you recently registered but your student account has not been created yet, you do not have an assigned advisor yet. Wait for the student login email, which will include the advisor information once setup is complete.
Important: The account setup period begins when you submit the Learner Enrollment Form, not when you purchase the membership.
Will My Homeschool Advisor Contact Me First?
Generally, no. Your Homeschool Advisor will not usually send a separate introductory email or begin contacting you regularly.
The advisor is available when you need assistance, but the parent normally initiates contact by emailing the advisor with a question. You do not need to wait for the advisor to reach out before asking for help.
If you have not heard directly from your advisor, that does not mean one was not assigned or that advisor support is unavailable. Check the email containing your student’s login information for the advisor’s name and email address, then contact them whenever you need guidance.
You may email your advisor:
- Soon after enrollment with getting-started questions
- When you need help with a form or state requirement
- When selecting classes or planning a schedule
- During high school credit and graduation planning
- Occasionally when a question comes up
- As often or as little as your family needs
There are no required advisor meetings or check-ins.
How Do I Contact My Homeschool Advisor?
Homeschool Advisor support is provided by email.
Your advisor’s name and email address are included in the email containing your student’s Homeschool Pro login information. Search your inbox and spam folder for messages from:
Because advisors generally do not initiate contact, you should send the first email whenever you are ready for assistance. You do not need to schedule an appointment or write a formal introduction. Simply explain what you need help with.
When emailing your advisor, include:
- The student’s full name
- The student’s grade level
- Your state
- A clear explanation of your question
- Any relevant form, letter, transcript, or document
Email allows the advisor to review state requirements, forms, records, transcripts, or other details before responding. It also gives you written instructions that you can save and refer to later.
Phone appointments and telephone advisor support are not available.
What If I Don’t Know Who My Advisor Is?
First, look for the email containing your student’s Homeschool Pro login information. Your advisor’s name and email address are listed in that message.

Is Homeschool Advisor Support Included With Every Plan?
Homeschool Advisor support is included with Homeschool Pro.
Afterschool Plus is designed for students who remain enrolled in public or private school and use the classes for extra practice or enrichment. It does not include the dedicated homeschool support services provided with Homeschool Pro.
Families who are homeschooling or planning to begin homeschooling should choose Homeschool Pro.
What Is the Parent’s Role?
Your Homeschool Advisor provides guidance and support, but the parent or legal guardian remains responsible for directing the student’s homeschool.
Parents are responsible for:
- Making final curriculum decisions
- Following the homeschool laws that apply where they live
- Reviewing and submitting required forms
- Monitoring the student’s progress
- Maintaining required records
- Making sure graduation requirements are completed
- Providing accurate information for transcripts and other documents
The advisor helps you understand and manage those responsibilities so that you do not have to navigate every step without support.
