How do I assign classes to my student?

4 min. readlast update: 07.26.2026

You do not need to formally assign classes in Homeschool Pro.

Unlike some online homeschool programs that require parents to select a limited number of courses for each student, Homeschool Pro provides unlimited access to the classes available for the student’s grade-level range. Once the student account is set up, those classes appear automatically.

Your student can take as many or as few of the available classes as your family chooses. There is no separate Assign Class, Add Course, or Enroll button for parents to use.

Which Classes Will My Student Have Access To?

Students in kindergarten through 8th grade generally receive access to:

  • Classes at their assigned grade level
  • Classes one grade level below
  • Classes one grade level above

For example, a 7th-grade student will generally have access to 6th-, 7th-, and 8th-grade classes.

Kindergarten students receive access to kindergarten and 1st-grade classes because there is no grade level below kindergarten.

Students in grades 9 through 12 receive access to all available high school classes.

Good to know: Having access to a class does not mean your student is required to complete it. Your family decides which classes the student will actually take.

How Does My Student Keep Track of the Classes They Are Taking?

Your student can simply begin the classes they want to take. Once a class has been started, it will automatically appear under the In Progress filter on the student’s My Classes page.

Selecting In Progress shows only the classes the student is currently working on, rather than every class available in their account.

Select In Progress to view only the classes the student has started.

This gives the student a simple working class list without requiring the parent to formally assign courses. It can also make the dashboard easier to navigate when dozens of classes are available.

The student can use the other filters whenever needed:

  • All: Shows every class available in the student’s account
  • Not Started: Shows classes the student has not begun
  • In Progress: Shows classes the student has started but not completed
  • Completed: Shows classes the student has completed

Tip: If a class does not appear under In Progress yet, the student should open the class and complete the first few lessons. It will then be included in the In Progress list.

Where Can I Find My Student’s Classes?

Classes appear only in the student’s account. They will not appear when you are signed in to the parent account.

The Parent Portal is used for:

  • Enrollment forms
  • Membership information
  • Billing
  • Homeschool Advisor resources
  • Parent support
  • Other family services

Students use their own individual Homeschool Pro login information to access classes, lessons, quizzes, assignments, and course progress.

Once the student account has been created:

  1. Have the student sign in using their individual login information.
  2. Open the My Classes page.
  3. Select any available class to begin or continue learning.

What If My Student Has Not Received Login Information?

Student accounts are created after you submit the Learner Enrollment Form.

The Learner Enrollment Form provides RemoteLearning.School with the student’s name, grade level, and other information needed to create the account and provide the correct class access.

To find the form:

  1. Sign in to the Parent Portal.
  2. Open your Homeschool Pro membership.
  3. Expand the Forms section.
  4. Select Learner Enrollment Form.
  5. Open and submit the form for your student.

Student login information is usually emailed within 2 to 3 business days after the form is submitted. The email is sent from help@rls.school, so be sure to check your spam or junk folder.

Important: The processing period begins when you submit the Learner Enrollment Form, not when you purchase the membership.

Can I Request Additional Grade Levels?

Yes. If your student needs access to a grade level outside the range already available, please contact us.

You might request additional access if your student:

  • Is working several grade levels ahead in a subject
  • Needs to review material from an earlier grade
  • Wants to take a specific class outside their current access
  • Is following a customized homeschool course plan

Parents may also ask us to remove classes or grade levels that are not needed. In most cases, however, the In Progress filter provides an easy way for students to focus only on the classes they are currently taking.

What If No Classes Appear in the Student Account?

First, confirm that you are signed in with the student’s individual account rather than the parent account.

If the student is signed in correctly but no classes appear, please contact us and include:

  • The student’s name
  • A screenshot of the My Classes page, if possible
